Summer really is here guys! There is no denying it – Apparently spring has been and gone without me noticing!
I was home at my parent’s house in Bristol this weekend and it was absolutely GORGEOUS!
As they haven’t lived in the house for long, I hadn’t seen the house or the garden in really good weather until this weekend and it was so much better than I had ever expected!
We started the weekend with the first BBQ of the summer! yay!! As I was home and we had some guests, we popped the champagne as the first smell of BBQ hit us – BLISS!!!

Mmm – fruity champagne….hic!

Don’t forget to feed the birdies! |

I know I’m technically a grown-up (ish) but i just want to sit down and make a daisy chain – Who’s with me? |
As the weather was so gorgeous we decided to wander down to Bristol Zoo and have a look around. I used to go there as a kid and it still brings back huge sentimental value heading back for a visit!
Every time I go back there they seem to have added something new – and I really really wish I was small enough to go on the “zoo-ropia” high rope course that they have added since I was a kid – It looks like SO MUCH FUN!!!
One of my favourite bits by far was the Lemur walk-through – where you walk through the lemur enclosure and they climb over bits of wood over your head, or can cross your path right in front of you. I was getting all excited because there was a really cute one walking across a bit of wood about a foot above my head, and wasn’t it so sweet etc etc and suddenly, without any warning, the cheeky lemur peed on the sleeve of my jacket. Ha!
Then there were all of these! I do think it is amazing seeing these animals so up close! They are all so gorgeous and Bristol Zoo obviously really cares about the animal welfare so much, they all seem so happy and comfortable where they are and have HUGE enclosures.

These tiny monkeys lined up as I walked past! Too Cute! |
 |
Love Penguins so much – look how cute they are! |
When we were in the penguin enclosure, one of the penguins was struggling getting up the slope and I commented, saying “he’s walking like I do on a hangover” because, lets face it, on a hangover, you struggle to walk ANYWHERE – the guy behind us literally burst out laughing – I didn’t know whether to be embarrassed or proud that I was so accidentally entertaining!
 |
“Yes, can I help you?” |
 |
They have a butterfly tunnel where they just fly around you – if
you stand still enough they will even land on you – I was so jealous
when this gorgeous butterfly landed on our friend Annie! |
I still find Gorillas amazing – they are so human! There was also a really sweet moment when I was watching this gorilla and some ducklings swam past – something in my brain really loves the contrast between this huge, powerful creature and these tiny baby duckies!
I’m back up in London now and back to reality, but what a great weekend in the sunshine to welcome summertime – and the sun is still shining up here too! Yay!
