I haven’t done a favourites post before – I’m still pretty new to this whole blogging thing – but I really like the idea of naming a few things that have made me happy and that I think are just a little bit awesome this month.
A lot of these, I now realise, are strongly related to moving house – but then that is pretty much all I have done this month (or at least that’s how it feels!) so I guess it makes sense.
Also, my favourites are slightly different from what you normally see, but then this isn’t a beauty or a fashion blog (I love reading them but seriously, Would. Not. Have. A. Clue. how to write one!) – mine is a little bit of everything!
1. Starbucks App
I am a huge advocate of independent coffee shops (see my post on “Tart” in Clapham), however, when you are on the motorway, or are in a huge rush, then you can’t be a coffee snob.
Originally, I thought the starbucks app was a bit rubbish – the fact that you have to top it up like a pay-as-you-go phone seemed like utter MADNESS.

But I tried it out (stranded at a service station at 1am when my car broke down – I know, nightmare, right?!!) and I have to say, I love it. Charge up it with £20 and you can keep track of what you are spending. Not having to dig around in duvets, kettles and boxes to find your purse is another bonus – you just scan your phone screen – how CLEVER!!!
2. Now That’s What I Call Disney.
I bought this at a service station somewhere on the M4 on my first drive of the house move so I’d have something to listen to while I drive. This CD has kept a smile on my face whenever I’ve been behind the wheel this month, (which has been a lot, apparently I’ve driven over 1500 miles just this fortnight!!) It has saved me from any house move related road-rage – find me someone who can get angry when “Happy Little Working Song” is playing and I will find you a serious reward!

3. My Little Blue Car.
I bought my little car from my flatmate when he went away last year and it has saved my backside with this house move. Even though she broke down (yes, definitely a “she”) in the middle of nowhere and needed her rear wheel cylinders (brakes) replacing (ouch….£££) I honestly don’t know what I would have done this move without having my little blue citroen to drive all my stuff to and fro!
(Apparently I don’t have any photos of my little blue car so you shall just have to imagine a little blue car that looks like it is smiling – the headlamps are the eyes – it just looks happy!)
4. Dorothy Perkins Jeans.
I always struggle finding jeans that fit right – I’ve got a bit of a bum, but my waist is small and my legs are just normal…normally if I find jeans that fit my bum, they are HUGE everywhere else and fall down or flash a little too much when I sit down! Dorothy Perkins, however, have got it right! I don’t know how they do it, but these just fit perfectly!

I bought these at Christmas and had never worn them – I found them when packing for the move and originally thought I wouldn’t get in them (house move = cake!) but they went on fine and fit like a glove! Well done, Dorothy Perkins – you have made jeans that actually fit me and my bottom! Yay! 🙂
5. Fairy Lights
Moving out, moving in. The best way to make anything feel like home quickly is fairy lights. I have 2 sets that have been travelling around with me and I can’t get enough!

One went on my bed the day I moved in and one on my desk so I can write in the evenings – which, inevitably is when I get my ideas! They make anywhere feel cosy immediately – I love it!
6. Paperchase.
I am going to put this out there today and I promise I will try not to mention it in my favourites again….If you follow me on Instagram, you will know about my slight obsession with Paperchase. It’s official. I am addicted. It holds a role so esteemed in my life that it is almost on a par with things like tea and chocolate!
Whenever I get a performing job, or achieve something professionally, or finish a task that has been taking a lot of effort and time on my part, I take myself to paperchase for a little treat. The day I handed in the keys to the flat was one of those days and I went to paperchase and bought myself a little present….or two…

Really, I need a job in paperchase…solely to justify how much I spend in there!
7. Hummingbird Bakery
As a huge cake-fan, I am mortified to admit that until 2 weeks ago, I had never been to a hummingbird bakery!
I know. Serious shocker. I don’t know how I have lived in London as long as I have and not ended up in there, but it’s true.
I found myself the other day with time to kill in Angel. I had a rehearsal with my band, Straight On Red, and was running way ahead of time. I was wandering around and saw the Hummingbird Bakery, so I went in.

It did not disappoint! Cake everywhere! I had a nutella cupcake and I can’t recommend it enough – even my Dorothy Perkins jeans didn’t have a problem with it cos they fit so damn well! YUMMY!
It looks so pretty in there too – I’d quite like an office base in one of their cafes…I think that would be fun.

What were some of your favourites this month?
I’ve really enjoyed writing this one – let me know if this type post is something you like reading – maybe I’ll make them a regular thing! 🙂
Ooh, and HAPPY EASTER when it comes!
Indulge your every chocolate craving – the calories don’t count if there is a hallmark card for the occasion!

July 9, 2015 at 4:01 pmSo much of my money has gone to paperchase – I regularly have to go on a detox and ban myself from going in at all for fear of coming out in serious debt!
Glad you like the blog – thanks for following!
