Hungover bank holiday weekend & I’ve got a new job!

There is something about bank holiday weekends, doesn’t everyone seem so much calmer?!? Everyone seems to be less stressed and allows themselves to be, frankly, a little lazy – and I love it!
It is totally allowed. We all work so hard, and when a 3 day weekend arrives, we totally deserve to lay in bed for 3 days if that is what we want to do!

I am sat here now in my slippers, at 11am on a Sunday, with a huge mug of tea and a plate of toast. I’m not writing lists in my brain of all the things I need to do by tomorrow morning, and it feels great.

This time yesterday I was sat in this exact spot with one of those headaches that can only be brought on by drinking your bodyweight in alcohol the night before – seriously, anyone in London who went out last night and couldn’t get wine anywhere; totally my bad, I drank it ALL on friday night.

I spent the day in my joggers and a t-shirt, drinking tea and watching the boys play GTA 5. On any other weekend, hungover or not, I would force myself to do something productive, but somehow because we have that extra day, I felt I was allowed to veg out a little and recover from my self inflicted wine-cloud-of-the-brain.

The irony is, I only have the 3 day weekend by chance, rather than because it is a bank holiday. This is because I have a new job! Yay!
Two weeks ago tomorrow I got a call from my agent telling me I had been cast in a new musical being put on in London. I mean, it obviously wasn’t a total surprise as I had been auditioning for it, but you never expect to get the job or you are setting yourself up for constant disappointment! But it got the job – cue happy Rosie smiley face! 🙂

The show is called “Duncton Wood” and it is the world premiere production based on the best-selling book series. We started rehearsals on Monday so we are already a week in! I’m still getting to grips with what it is all about – if anyone has read the books, please let me know what you think – but I’ve been told that the closest comparison to how our production is going to be is “Game of Thrones” so obviously, that’s awesome and I can’t wait!

Anyway, because of the way the rehearsal process goes, some people are called on certain days and others are not needed. It is merely coincidence that the day I am not needed falls on the bank holiday monday – love when the universe just has good timing sometimes! So I get to join everyone else in a 3 day weekend where I only have to get in as much productivity as I would in a normal 2 day weekend – bliss!

Obviously, I have material to learn for the show, and I will be doing that, but it feels so much more relaxed having 3 days to do it!

So my plan for the rest of this weekend is to chill out a bit, and get ahead on everything. I’m gonna learn the material for the show. I’m going to get ahead on my blog and actually finish some of the 30-something posts in “draft” form on my laptop. I’m going to schedule posts and tweets etc and get ahead of myself a bit. I’m going to take the photos I need for the posts going out over the next couple of weeks – who knows how busy I’m going to be once rehearsals get into full swing so it’ll be good to get ahead!

Guaranteed I will also end up watching too much “Once Upon A Time” (definitely my new obsession!) on Netflix, window shopping on Etsy and drinking more tea than is ever advisable, but that just goes without saying!

I hope you all have a wonderful bank holiday weekend full of booze, food and lazing around in your PJs for longer than you would ever admit to your mother. 🙂

If anyone is interested in coming to see the show or wants some more information, see the Union Theatre Website at www.uniontheatre.biz

I will also try to get a vlog up at some point about rehearsals etc so feel free to check out my YouTube channel

Congratulations on the job, that's great news! And so nice that you're able to relax on Bank Holiday Monday along with the rest of the UK. In France the bank holiday was weirdly on Friday and literally everything shut down, even the public transport wasn't running!

Wow! Even the public transport goes down in France? Thats amazing – there would be outrage if it went down in London!
    It was a lovely weekend!
