Boots Haul – Revamping my skincare routine!

So recently, I have been busy/house-moving/just-making-excuses and I’ve fallen back into the skincare routine of when I was a student: Makeup wipes at the end of the day and thats about it – and that’s just not good!

I’m quite lucky because my skin is generally quite good and I only get the very occasional breakout, but I know I should have a better skincare routine than cheap and cheerful makeup wipes and my skin would be in much better condition if I used something proper. So I went shopping.

I’m weird, I am one of those women who genuinely doesn’t like shopping. I just can’t do it. I buy the thing I need and leave. I can’t do the browsing thing. Which is why I was so surprised that when I went to boots looking for a new skincare routine I ended up wandering around for the best part of an hour, and I bought LOADS!

So, firstly, skincare wise, I was looking at the hundreds of options  – seriously, why are there SO MANY?!? – and one that stuck out at me was Garnier. I’m not sure why it stuck out, but reading all the labels and such it seemed like the best fit for me.

So. I bought these.

Skincare

St Ive’s Apricot Scrub “Blemish Fighting” Exfoliator
I use this every other day as I find that every day is a bit tough on my skin, but I love the smooth feeling afterwards!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
This seems to be very very popular at the moment but I can totally understand why – If you want to refresh your face on a day when you are not wearing makeup, or need a light way of taking off your makeup and relaxing for the evening feeling clean before your evening skincare regime at bedtime – this is perfect!

Garnier Fresh Cleansing Lotion
This is a really light cleanser that you just use with a cotton pad or two – no need for rinsing, which can be very useful as a girl on the go (I imagine I may buy another of these for the theatre once the show opens and I need to take my makeup off and clean my face properly after a show!)

Garnier Softening Toner
“Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise” – this is the perfect middle step. It smells really good too! 🙂

Garnier Moisture Match
I bought two moisturisers – one for daytime and one for nighttime – this is the daytime one and I’m really pleased with it – it soaks in to my skin really nicely and is a perfect day moisturiser before the day’s makeup and tube smog attempt an attack at my pores!

Garnier Moisture Repair +
This is my new nighttime moisturiser and this smells AMAZING! I also have been waking up looking so much less tired and like I might actually have something to offer the day, which, bearing in mind I am in rehearsals and am probably more tired than normal, is impressive!

Sanctuary Spa Brightening Eye Gel
I’ve never used an eye cream or gel before – I know, shock horror! – I had no idea what to buy and so looked online at various blogs and a few people had recommended this. I love it!
The little tip to keep it in the fridge I haven’t tried yet, for fear of frightening the boys or tasting it in a pasta bake, but even without the fridge, it is cooling and relaxing and feels like a spa treatment on it’s own!

I’m loving these skincare bits so far and will keep you posted about how it goes over the next few weeks and if there is any particular product that I really LOVE.

Other Bits and Bobs

Batiste Dry Shampoo
After so many people gave me the tip of “not washing my hair too often” after I went redhead, I had to pick this baby up – the red is intact still so thanks for that tip ladies! 🙂

Sally Hansen Strengthening Nail Polish Remover
I’d run out of my last bottle and this one claims to strengthen your nails – I’ll keep you posted!

L’oreal Paris Lipstick – “Nude – 235”
I’ve been looking for a new neutral coloured lipstick for a while and this one jumped out at me in the shops – I’ve worn it quite a bit now and I really like it!

Quick Fix Facials Purifying Charcoal Mask
For those days when I find an hour to myself and want to pretend I’m in one of those american chick flicks – or scare my housemates! (Plus, it’s got charcoal in it, which will be really good for purifying when I have stage makeup clogging up my pores in a few weeks!)

Boots Metal Free Ponybands
I have too much hair! It gets in my face far too much so inevitably at some point during the day I will tie it up. These metal free bands are better for your hair and it’s always good to have spares!

Do you use any of these? Or do you have other products you recommend? I’d love to hear any recommendations or tips you may have in the comments below! 🙂

I can't believe you don't like browsing! That's the best bit for me 🙂 I recently did a bit of a skincare revamp – but I've got the last bits of my old moisturisers and stuff to keep using, which is really annoying… I'd love to know how you found the Sanctuary eye cream when you've been using it for a while 🙂

I've found that the garnier work quite well for sensitive skin – the scrub might be a bit much though.
    Glad you liked the post.
