I know what you are thinking – seriously Rosie, we are a week into June already, get it together! – All I can say is its been a bit of a manic couple of weeks on the show and I’ve been so busy I’ve hardly stopped to breathe!
So here, better late than never, are my May Favourites!
1. Sushi – particularly sashimi!
Trying to be healthy when working on a show can be tricky, but when you are on the way to the theatre looking for something to grab for dinner and you pass an itsu, there is nothing better for you!
I’ve been having sashimi quite often before the show – I struggle performing with a load of rice in my tummy making me a bit sluggish, but a nice filling sashimi box with wakame seaweed has been just the job on several days pre-show – so good for you and really yummy!
2. New Perfume – Diesel Loverdose Red Kiss
I’ve been wearing Lancome Miracle for years now and I wanted something similar but different – same kind of tone but something new. I went into “The Perfume Shop” and they helped me find the new Diesel perfume, “Loverdose Red Kiss” and I love it! 🙂
3. Astral.
I was lucky enough to be sent a goodie box from Astral earlier this month and I cannot tell you how useful it has been, or how perfect their timing was. Spending a huge amount of time with stage makeup on, or covered in stage blood, you end up using makeup wipes etc like they are going out of style and it can really dry out your skin.
I get covered in muck and stage blood on my body and my face in this show, and there has honestly been no better feeling than wiping it all off and then using this wonderful moisturiser to help my skin recover. I have a travel pot in my bag, a pot at home and a pot on my dressing table at the theatre – I cannot get enough – Thanks Astral! 🙂
4. Foyles.
I bloody love a good book. A proper book. In my hands. With pages. And for some reason I’ve spent a lot of time in Foyles this month – there has been several occasions with time to kill in soho post-audition and time to kill before getting to the theatre at Waterloo Station, etc etc, and I’ve ended up in Foyles, browsing all the books and picking out some new favourites. I’ve bought so many books this month I’m going to do a separate post on them once I’ve read them – just gotta find time out of the show to read now!
5. Clean Eating

Working on this show, where we are wearing relatively revealing costumes (not in comparison to the topless boys, but still!), has made us all eat very healthily (check out my recipe for skinny flourless pancakes!) and I have rediscovered the whole world of Clean Eating – basically only eating stuff that you could kill or pick and nothing processed – and it has got me totally buzzing.
Instagram has been really helpful in this, providing inspiration for cooking really yummy, healthy, clean food from accounts like “Deliciously Ella“, “Healthy Chef Steph“, “Clean Eating Alice” and “The Clean Eating Guide” – just take a look! YUM!
6. Vapianos
I know there are a lot of food related favourites this month, but when your life is revolving around getting to the theatre and rehearsals, good food suddenly becomes really really important!
The cast and I have two shows on a Saturday and between shows we need something really scrummy to fill us up and fuel us for the evening show – and there is a vapianos around the corner!
I discovered Vapianos when I was in Germany at the end of last year and I just love it.
Last weekend between shows we all headed over and it was just what we needed – I think it is going to become a regular occurrence! 🙂
7. Duncton Wood.
Finally, I have to mention this gorgeous show. It has been such a huge part of my life for the past couple of months and I really think it is something truly special.
Everyone in the cast and creative team is bloody wonderful and I honestly feel so honoured to work with each and every one of them!
If you live in London, and are interested in theatre, I really urge you to beg, borrow or steal a ticket and support this beautiful piece of new British musical theatre. For tickets, visit The Union Theatre website.
We have a video advert now with clips from the show and I cannot get over it! See if you can spot me in the mustard with the HUGE hair!
