Nadiya, Tamal or Ian? Who will be the cherry on the top of this year’s Great British Bake Off?
I can’t quite believe that we have come to the end of another series. I think the BBC should make a vow to just have Bake Off running permanently? I KNOW I would be a much happier person if I knew I would have a weekly dose of cake, chocolate, ice-cream and melt-downs!
I cannot wait to watch tonight – as expected, an invite came in for an event tonight and I simply said, “I’m sorry, I have other commitments….” I know – so terribly un-professional, but this is just too important! I cannot avoid social media tonight when I know the final is happening! So I will be in my pyjamas, some form of chocolate in my hands, ready and waiting when Mel and Sue’s faces appear on our screens again tonight!
In honour of the fact that it is the last episode (sob!) of the series, I decided to challenge myself to make the chocolate soufflé from last week that caused such controversy…..in fact, maybe I’ll be eating that in front of Bake Off tonight! Ooh – Hasn’t this worked out well! Me, trying to be smart and making content that fits together has actually resulted in me having an entire chocolate soufflé to watch bake off with tonight – that is, a completely accidental, but brilliant, blogger win! 🙂
So, now I’ve got over that realisation, I’ll carry on with my sentence. I decided to challenge myself to make the chocolate soufflé from last week that caused such controversy.
The recipe is on the Great British Bake Off Website – however they forgot to put the ingredient list on there so I found Mary Berry’s recipe on the BBC Food website. Click here for the recipe.
All I can say is it took me soooo much longer than the bakers in the tent, and it was surprisingly complicated! Getting the creme pat to thicken was particularly tricky….but I got there and thats the main thing – I’d have loved it to rise just a bit more, but I’m picky like that. God knows how I would cope if I, like the bakers, didn’t even have the instructions!
So, I will be curled up in my pyjamas with an entire chocolate soufflé and a spoon tonight….ah well….perks of the job as they say! 🙂 (Is there such a thing as “blogger’s bottom”? I think I might end up developing one if I keep doing baking posts!)
I am still in mourning that Flora isn’t in the final, but still so so excited to watch and see who wins and what they have to make in this final week.
Then we are doomed to 3 months of X Factor…..come on, someone produce something equally brilliant as bake off? Please? I don’t know what I’m going to do with my Wednesdays now (or, Thursday mornings, as, let’s be honest, I am ALWAYS out on a wednesday night – for no apparent reason everything seems to be on that day….maybe my life is conspiring against me to make me miss bake off….maybe I’m over-analysing this!)
I need a new Netflix series I think, to get over my inevitable post-bake-off-blues…..any suggestions?
I’m gonna be tweeting along tonight whilst watching so be sure to follow me and join in the chat! 🙂

December 8, 2015 at 7:49 pmThanks – Always game for a challenge, me!
I seems to have replaced bake off with the apprentice temporarily, though now I'm in France, even that is proving tricky…
Love love love bake off, and Nadia so deserved it in the end! 🙂
