11 months blogging – Looking back!

On December 5th, A Girl On A Journey turns 1!
I realise that you are probably now thinking, alright Rosie, shut up for another 27 days and then you can get a bit sentimental and talk about the things you’ve learnt etc…

This post isn’t going to be that. And I can guarantee, right now, that on December 5th, I will be posting something like that, because becoming a part of this world has been one of the best decisions I have ever made – and I’ve learnt so so much so I will definitely be sharing that all with you guys.

I was just sitting and thinking about this thing that has become such a huge part of my life and had a look through my instagram just to remind myself of what I’ve been up to in the 11 months since I started putting my thoughts into words – and I was really enjoying seeing it so I thought I’d share that with you and give you a bit of an insight into what was going on!

The day before I started my blog.
The caption for this photo was “Lots of ideas going around in my head at the moment. Time for an offload.”
I still keep my diary, but find that I need to write in it less, because I’ve got this space where I can be completely honest – if I’m having a bad day, I’m having a bad day and I’ll talk about it here. If I’m having an incredible day, I’ll share that here too.
Through this platform I’ve found a place where I can be me, that isn’t just in the pages of a notebook. 🙂

I spent New Year in Germany last year with my wonderful ex-housemate, a very special friend, David (he’s very pretty and very talented so do check him out on instagram or twitter!) – he had left me in October to head off on the Rocky Horror European Tour and I headed out to spend New Year with them all in Dortmund.
We headed to Mannheim on New Years day and it snowed – So pretty!

Opening night for “She Loves Me” in London. This show was so so special and I met some ABSOLUTE GEMS working on it. I consider myself very very lucky to be able to combine so many of the things I love in my life and this show was a perfect example of that!
This picture of the ladies was then imitated exactly pose-by-pose by the boys of the cast – which was truly spectacular!

Still working on “She Loves Me” – we girls had a bit of break at the start of the second act and we used to bring in our dinner to nibble on during that break before we went back on stage! We had a fun dance number at the end of the first act, which meant that having dinner before the show was not exactly a wise idea unless we fancied seeing our dinner again – eek – so having a mid show dinner was perfect!

Winding down from the end of the show – it’s always sad when shows finish but it’s quite nice to have a bit of time to catch up on the other things that have been going on while you’ve been so busy!

Skiing in France – There is something about getting up into the mountains and into the fresh air that is just so good for having a good hard look at yourself and where you are at. I was in a bit of a funny place after “She Loves Me” finished and getting up into the mountains and working out what I needed to do to put my head into a better place was so important! Plus, getting some serious skiing done is always incredible!

Celebrating my Dad’s 60th with a cake made of cheese, lots of balloons, lots of wine and even a magician!

Working on the UK Premiere production of “Duncton Wood” – I absolutely loved this show and had such an incredibly special experience working on it. I really hope the show itself has a further life to it – there is something really special about it and I would so love to think that more people will get to see it at some point in the future!
Shout out to my fellow cast mates if they read this “Keep The Tray!” 🙂
p.s. yes, that is me in the top right photo….looking very very different from the usual me!

22nd June 2015
The night after “Duncton Wood” closed, I was not allowed to be suitably hungover, because I was at the London Palladium with this crazy lot! Singing at the Palladium was, I think, my highlight of the year so far, and possibly the highpoint of my performing career to date. I was wearing an INCREDIBLE dress designed and hand made by Rosie Red Corsetry, and getting up there with the completely gorgeous Jai McDowall, the exceptional Adam Lewis and the stunning Charlotte Jaconelli (who I also worked with on “She Loves Me”) and singing the gorgeous song written by Dan & Laura Curtis was so so special!
Such a special and important night for me.

For me, you cannot beat Cornwall for a proper British summer holiday – I’ve said before that getting down there is a little bit magical – and this photo kinda shows why!

After the most fantastic 2 weeks travelling all around the east coast of the US (see my posts about my trip here) we finished up in New York – I’d never been but always wanted to go and so standing in the middle of Times Square was a great moment for me – already trying to work out when I can go back!

London Fashion Week, and I was there as an invited blogger!! NEVER saw that coming! In the middle of a busy day of shows taking in LFW I managed to catch my gorgeous cousin for lunch and a bit of a gossip! 🙂

Autumn arriving and this year I’ve noticed it so much more. I’ve been so much more aware of my surroundings and the things I appreciate and that I think are beautiful. 🙂
