Huge Makeup Haul!

Scraping out the final drops of foundation with cotton buds and tiny brushes, spending 20 minutes on mascara because there is just no goo left in the tube, and nearly depriving yourself of an eyeball because your eyeliner is running so low you have to basically stab yourself to leave a mark on your lash line….these things are all things we ladies know too well – the days when your makeup products are running out and it’s time for a cheeky re-stock.

Normally, however, these things don’t all happen at the same time – for me, literally everything has just run out, all at the same time.
I don’t know how I’ve done it, I must be much more in sync with my makeup products than my liquid-eyeliner-fail from this morning would allow me to believe!
As I finished the last of my foundation this morning (I mean literally the last, it’s been stood upside down for over a week and the glass is now clear, not foundation coloured!) and my poor eyelids have been through nothing short of an ordeal every morning for the past week due to lack of eyeliner, I decided it had to be today.
I was also out of primer, concealer, some of my best beige-brown eyeshadow shades and highlighter so the situation was getting pretty desperate (I’m amazing I’ve managed to cobble together any kind of presentable face this week at all!)
So these are the things I bought, some were simple replacements, but a lot are brand new products to me (I mean, I’d heard of them but never used them) so I’m excited to give them a try!

1. M-A-C Studio Fix Fluid FoundationBuy Here
I’ve been using this foundation for over a year now and I absolutely love it – its light whilst giving a great build-able coverage and it doesn’t disagree with my skin – Yay!
I was first introduced to this foundation on a photo shoot (possibly this one, but don’t quote me on that!) by the make-up artist and I fell in love.
I’m shade NW13 but as there are so many shades, your best bet is to go in store and ask for help – they will be more than happy to help you out and find you the perfect shade for your skin tone.
2. Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner – Buy Here
I am a firm liquid-eyeliner girl. Always have been. I mean, obviously, not always, I didn’t appear from the womb and demand a steady surface only to whack out a perfect cat flick! But for the past few years at least, I have been a solid liquid liner girl. I normally go for the Rimmel Glam’ Eyes and it has served me so well. However, as happens with liquid liner, there are so often moments where I have no time and completely balls it up…and ballsing up liquid liner just isn’t subtle!
I’ve been thinking for a while that I should get one that is just quick and easy, maybe not so detailed, but good for those mornings where I’d rather spend those extra few minutes in bed knowing that I will still get my makeup on and won’t be going to my meetings looking like I’ve been punched by the eyeliner goblin!
I saw this eyeliner in Lily Melrose’s 3 minute makeup vlog last week and my jaw dropped! She did her eyeliner in about 3 seconds flat! I just had to try it!
Watch this space!

3. Topshop Glow Pot HighlighterBuy Here
This is a fab little pot with a highlighter cream inside. Great for cheekbones, brow bones and I reckon it could even be used as a subtle eyeshadow for those days when you just can’t really be arsed but could do with a bit of something there….we shall see!
4. M-A-C Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage PrimerBuy Here
I was recommended this when I was in the M-A-C store looking at primers today. I have to say, when I first tried it out on the back of my hand I was completely not interested – when you put it on, it’s got tiny little specs of sparkle, almost like tiny tiny glitter specs in it – I felt a bit like one of the vampires from “Twilight” catching the light like that, but when you put foundation on top of it’s very smooth surface the sparkles disappear and it just has a really great light reflecting quality to it – you just have to get over the glittery-face aspect before you pop on your foundation!

5. Topshop Enigma Smokey Eye PaletteBuy Here
I love the colours in this one – perfect for daytime but also build-able for evenings so perfect as a makeup bag staple (I just can’t fit a Naked Palette in my handbag every day!)
6. Benefit High Beam Highlighter – Buy Here
I am incredible late for the boat on this one – everyone has been going on about this for YEARS and I’ve never tried it! (backs into the corner in a pile of blogger-shame!)
So I have it now, and can’t wait to get started with it! 🙂
7. Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Medium – Buy Here
This looks really clever – it has three parts to it. An under eye brightening concealer for those bags from watching too much Grey’s Anatomy at 3am, a light scramble face concealer for those pesky blemishes that we just want to GO AWAY, and a concealer fixing powder so the things you are covering up actually stay covered up (yay!)

Looking forward to trying this one out!

8. M-A-C Prep + Prime Highlighter in ‘Radiant Rose’Buy Here
This is another product that I was looking for in the M-A-C store and was recommended. I know several people who use it and speak highly of it so I thought it was a pretty good one to pop in the makeup bag! 🙂

This literally happened to me a couple of weeks ago – Everything just ran out apart from my mascara! I got a load of lovely things from Elf and I'm loving having a little bit of an experiment. I actually kind of enjoy using up products completely. It's so satisfying haha. Have fun with all of these!

I never run out of products because I own so many variations of everything I buy so I always have way too much. But this Soap and Glory eyeliner is amazing. I need to try the kiss ass concealer though as this looks interesting x

It's awful when you run out of everything at once, all my foundations are nearing the end now and it's going to be a nightmare to get all the ones I love again at once!

I know – it's that scary feeling that you've found the right shade and then you may never find it again – argh!
