Hello all you wonderful people!
I am writing this whilst sitting on my bed in my parents house, back in Bristol. It’s been so lovely being back in my parents house for the past few days – I’ve caught up with my oldest friend (who I’m going to be spending New Years Eve with too!) and spent lots of time drinking tea and curling up on the sofa with Christmas movies playing, and I’ve also managed to blitz my Christmas shopping from beginning to end in less than 24 hours!! (Turns out, working crazy shifts in the run up to Christmas does not leave a huge amount of time for shopping!)
I can’t quite believe it is Christmas Eve – tonight I’m heading to a Christingle service with my family, and then to two different drinks parties – both of which we go to every year (all the prosecco and cocktail sausages are gonna be consumed tonight!)
I really love hearing about people’s christmas traditions – everyone has different ones, and no-one seems to know where they have all come from!
For us, as long as I can remember, we have had poached eggs and hot ham for breakfast on Christmas Day, and it is always before presents! I remember as a little kid we used to head into our parent’s room and open our stockings, and then head downstairs for breakfast – but we weren’t even allowed to see if Father Christmas had left us any presents by the tree until after we had eaten our breakfast! Honestly, no breakfast has ever taken so long as those breakfasts when all three of us girls were waiting to see if we had been good enough for Father Christmas to leave us any presents…..it seemed to take longer and longer every year!
So tomorrow morning, we will be having our traditional hot ham and poached eggs, then it’s time for present exchanging with my mum, dad and two sisters in our pyjamas. I love Christmas. I love the food, the drinks, the friends, the family, the present giving (I did all my christmas shopping in 24 hours this year, but even so, I’m super proud of the presents I’ve bought people this year – love seeing the looks on their faces when they open the gifts I’ve got them!) – it’s just so special!
What Christmas traditions do you guys have?
Anyway, I’m off to get myself tarted up for all the drinks this evening – glitter and red lipstick are definitely happening!
I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas eve and a wonderful Christmas – enjoy every minute!
Lots of festive love to all of you gorgeous lot! 💋🍾🎁🎅🏼😊🍷🎄🎶
