The Lost Art of a Great Night’s Sleep with Leesa!! AD

Sleep is awesome. Honestly, it is one of the most incredible things ever. And I’m not just saying this as an excuse to be lazy!
Did you know that sleep can help improve your memory? Or that it can reduce inflammation associated with heart disease, stroke & premature ageing?
Good quality sleep has been proven to boost your creativity, improve your athletic performance, reduce your stress levels, and even enhance your academic prowess! Also, fun fact for those of you on a bit of a new year diet: a good night’s sleep improves your metabolism so that your body loses more fat and less muscle! Essentially, as I said, sleep is blooming’ awesome!
If there was a funny coloured berry with the same benefits, we would all be zipping down to our nearest health food store to get our hands on this incredible “superfood” so why do we allow ourselves to underestimate something that is so very very good for us?

We all know that feeling, when you have been working really hard and have definitely been burning the candle at both ends and you feel completely run down… and then you have a good nights sleep and you wake up rested, reinvigorated and ready to take on the world again. It is such an incredible feeling!
We live in a society where it has become “cool” to be busy, and claiming that you “only had 3 hours sleep last night” has become something you can boast about…Ummmm, how twisted is that?!?! Just think about it. It has become “cool” to be sleep deprived and knackered…umm no thanks!!
I say that 2017 should be the year we all value our sleep again! Forget what is “cool”, take time for yourself, appreciate the moments that you have been taking for granted as they pass you by in a flurry of emails and long hours, and at the end of it all, get a great night’s sleep!

When it comes to getting a good night’s sleep, a huge amount of it is down to choosing the right mattress. If you are sleeping on a mattress that is too soft, or too hard, has lumps and bumps in the wrong places, doesn’t support you right, or is just simply uncomfortable, you aren’t going to get the same quality of sleep – it’s as simple as that!

When you go out to buy a mattress, you are making an investment. Mattresses aren’t cheap and deciding which one you want is a big decision. But all you get is a few minutes of lying on a showroom mattress, normally with a salesperson breathing over you asking you what you think (while seeing dollar signs dancing over your head!) I don’t know about you, but for me, that just doesn’t feel right!
So what if you could get an awesome mattress delivered to your home, and sleep on it for 100 nights, to really try it out? And then if you decide it isn’t for you, you get your money back and the mattress gets picked up from your home and donated to charity? Sounds good right? Almost too good to be true. Well, buckle up ladies and gents, because it exists and my god is it good!

Introducing the Leesa Mattress!
I never thought I could get excited about a mattress but here I am doing just that! This mattress is AMAZING! I can honestly say I have never slept better in my life (and I have been an absolute champion sleeper since I was tiny!)

The Leesa Mattress has 3 different layers to it: the bottom layer is 15cm of dense support foam, the middle is 5cm of contouring memory foam, and the top layer is 5cm of cooling Avena foam. Essentially, it’s got a firm base, with memory foam and then a layer on top that stops you getting too hot, which is a common problem with normal memory foam mattresses.
I’ve also found that it is easier to move around on than a normal memory foam mattress – it’s all very well moulding to your body but if it means that you have to roll up-hill to turn over, it’s not ideal! This mattress does the moulding-to-you part, without the getting-stuck-in-a-body-shaped-dip part – win win!

This really is the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. I was a little concerned when I ordered it that it might be a little soft for my liking, because I’ve always liked quite a firm mattress, but I needn’t have worried – it manages to get that perfect balance between softness and support, and I wake up every morning feeling really refreshed and ready for the day!

The ordering process was incredibly easy – I think it took about 3 minutes: about 5 clicks and the typing in of my address – it really is incredibly simple! I ordered mine on the 20th December, and the website says to allow 4-7 working days for delivery – and yet on the 22nd December, my mattress arrived, in such a small box I was convinced that they had got the order wrong and sent me a single! They hadn’t.
The Leesa mattress arrives vacuum-packed down to a tiny percentage of it’s actual size, and the unboxing is incredible – in a matter of minutes, it went from no more than 2cm thick, to 25cm thick and so wonderfully comfy – I actually videoed the process because I couldn’t believe that it was going to expand so much – check it out!

The Leesa Mattress is also really easy to manoeuvre and transport (I mean, it’s still a king sized mattress, but it’s squishy!) I got mine delivered to my parents house in Bristol, as thats where I was going to keep it (and the bed frame looks better in photos!) but I fell in love with it so much that I ended up squishing it into the back of my little car and driving it up to my little flat in Cambridge when I came back after Christmas – I just couldn’t bear to leave it behind!!

I am also really impressed with Leesa as a company – they really have ticked every box! It is a quick and easy ordering process, the delivery is super speedy and you even get a text to let you know when it is going to arrive and, most importantly, the product is fantastic! But the one thing I also think they need a huge amount of credit for is their moral compass.
If you are one of the few who decides during your 100 night trial that it just isn’t for you, Leesa will come and pick up your mattress for free (and give you a full refund), and donate it to charity. More than that, for every 10 mattresses they sell, they donate one to charity! AND, for every mattress they sell, they plant a tree! They really are a company that give back which is really impressive. To read more about their One-Ten initiative on their website, click here.

I still can’t quite believe how much I’ve fallen in love with this mattress – so much so that I’m actually looking forward to going back to night shifts in a couple of weeks time, simply because it means I can come home afterwards, absolutely shattered having been up all night with labouring ladies, and I can get into my bed, safe in the knowledge that I am going to have an awesome night’s (well…day’s) sleep – and wake up ache-and-pain free ready for my next shift!
