Dirty Bones Shoreditch: Brunch Food Porn! | GIFTED

Ok people. We all know I love a good brunch, but I actually feel like this post needs some kind of disclaimer….so here it comes.

WARNING: YOLK PORN! Those with a nervous disposition around runny yolk and gooey hollandaise should look away for their own wellbeing.

Seriously. I’ve had many a brunch in my time (particularly since starting my blog – blogging and brunch seem to go almost completely hand in hand!) but this one was a whole new level for me!

Dirty Bones is an American Style restaurant in London. In fact there are four across the capital so there really is no excuse not to pay one a visit if you are in town!

I was invited down for brunch recently and, after perusing their menu online, I absolutely couldn’t wait!

I went down there with the wonderful Charlotte Steggz (who I only met in September but I feel like I’ve known for YEARS already!) and we, frankly, completely indulged!
Dirty Bones Shoreditch is only a matter of minutes walk from Shoreditch High Street station, through some of the most colourful streets in London – if you’re planning on heading down, go a little early and take a camera; there is some seriously cool street art around- perfect for giving your instagram feed a boost too! (check out this shot that Charlotte took of me literally less than 100 yards from the front door of Dirty Bones!)

The weekend brunch menu is so incredibly varied, and it took AGES to make our final decisions, but in the end we both decided to start with crumpets. I ordered the Short Rib Shoreditch Crumpets – 14 hour slow cooked short rib on perfectly cooked fresh crumpets, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce – absolutely delicious! The meat was soft and delicious, and combined with soft cooked poached eggs and delicious hollandaise sauce, I was one happy girl!

Charlotte went for the Avocado crumpets (see the picture at the top of this post!), also with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce & a splash of hot sauce for a bit of added kick – yum! Dirty Bones also donate 25p from every Shoreditch Crumpets dish ordered to the “Magic Breakfast” charity, helping them provide breakfast to underprivileged children in London; so you can order your crumpets and know you’re doing some good at the same time!

Now, are you ready for the best phrase in the english language?!

“Brunch Dessert”

I’m just gonna let that sink in for a second. Yes. Brunch Dessert. What an incredible concept! So, when we were asked if we would like some “Brunch Dessert”, clearly we HAD TO say yes!

Charlotte ordered the Matcha Custard French Toast, smothered in maple syrup (it also comes with candied bacon but as a veggie, she had it without) – it really looked delicious!
I went for the Caramelised Banana Waffles which came topped with chocolate sauce, blueberry jam and a scoop of salted caramel ice cream – seriously YUM! All bananas should come caramelised. Seriously. Someone should just make this a thing. Caramelised bananas are DELICIOUS!!!

Drinks wise, as Charlotte was the designated driver, I was free to indulge in the incredible “Dirty Mary” – Dirty Bones’ twist on a Bloody Mary (which includes dusting the rim of the glass with crushed sour cream pringles!) – delicious – if someone could present me with this whenever I have had a tough week, or whenever I’ve got a hangover, I’d be a happy happy girl!
Charlotte went for the Shadow Milkshake, which was essentially a chocolate and oreo milkshake sensation! I did have a sip and WOW!

The set up at Dirty Bones Shoreditch is absolutely gorgeous – I particularly liked the rose gold/copper coloured cocktail shakers and bright neon coloured signs – it fits perfectly with the quirky Shoreditch setting! 🙂

They also do a Lunch and Dinner menu, and has Friday and Saturday night DJs so it essentially covers all bases! I really wanna head there for Saturday drinks – I reckon it’d be good fun!

Dirty Bones can be found on their website, twitter and instagram, and they now have four London locations – Soho, Kensington, Carnaby and Shoreditch – head on down, I promise you won’t regret it!
