A Classy Stay at The White Hart Hotel, Lincoln

If you follow me on instagram, you will have seen in my stories and also in a couple of posts that about ten days ago, we headed up to Lincoln for a couple of days. M knows Lincoln quite well, but for me, it was my first time properly visiting (I’ve done a few trips in passing, but never looked around the proper town or stayed up there)

We drove up after M finished work on the Thursday afternoon and got up there for about 7.45. We were staying at The White Hart Hotel, right by Lincoln Cathedral – perfect central location for wandering into town or going for a drink or some food.

We had a table booked at the restaurant in the hotel “The Lincoln Grille” for dinner at 8.15 so it was a super quick check in, then nip to the room for a speedy shower, hair, makeup and change of clothes before zipping downstairs again but I still managed to fins a few mins to take some pictures of our gorgeous room.

The room itself was really nicely set up, with wide windows overlooking the cobbled street below, and some really nice touches such as a real teapot and toiletries all from The White Company (I LOVE The White Company, so this went down a complete treat!)

As I said, on the first evening we ate at the restaurant “The Lincoln Grille” (full post on that next week!) and then afterwards we headed into the bar for a drink. The bar in the hotel has a MASSIVE cocktail menu, and as a woman who loves a good cocktail, I was all set! I had already indulged in a pudding, but seeing a Banoffee Cheesecake cocktail on the menu, I just had to give it a try. YUM! I mean it definitely had at least a thousand calories in it (one of the main ingredients was cream, after all!) but it was so so good!! There was also a guy playing live music in the bar too which was particularly lovely and definitely added to the feel of the evening!

We had a king sized bed, with crisp white sheets. As we were visiting in the middle of a heatwave, we actually slept mostly on top of the duvet, but it was still really blooming’ comfy! We were also hugely appreciative of the fans that were sent up to the room when we asked – the heatwave was just a bit much!

The breakfast spread was quite something too. There was a selection of fruit juices, cereals, fresh fruit and pastries to start and then a breakfast menu to die for – from Eggs Benedict or a Full English, to Porridge or Granola – there was something for everyone! The first morning I had the Eggs Benedict (with a side of black pudding – yes, I know it’s weird but if you do a degree in Scotland, things like Black Pudding become a must!) and then the second morning I simply had to go for the Full English (when in Rome!)

We spent the Friday in the glorious sunshine at a fantastic RAF Air Show – more on that (including some photos of the Red Arrows that I’m really blooming’ proud of) later in the week! Then, after dinner, we headed back to The White Hart for another cocktail before bed. This time, I had to go for the classic, an Espresso Martini, and it was absolutely delicious – just what I needed as a little after dinner treat!

We had a fab stay at The White Hart, with it’s great location for wandering into town, the friendly staff, comfy bed, well set up room and brilliant food – if we do another long weekend in Lincoln any time soon, I know where I’ll be booking! 🙂
