A Stunning Stay at Cadbury House, Bristol | AD

I’ve heard of something having the “wow-factor” but swiping the entry card to our room at Cadbury House genuinely took may breath away.

Walking into the room to see a mirrored four-poster bed, a white freestanding bath, his-and-hers sinks, a double walk-in shower and a mirror wall; it was absolutely stunning!

Cadbury House is a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in North Somerset, near Bristol. It’s countryside surroundings give it a gorgeous setting, and give the rooms the most gorgeous views too.
We arrived early evening and were greeted by Rachael and the fab team at the reception desk who were incredibly welcoming; they even gave us warm chocolate cookies (I mean, what better way to make a good first impression?!)

Our room was absolutely gorgeous; on the 7th floor with an absolutely stunning view!

The room itself was really spacious and light; there was a living area (with sofa, coffee machine and tv), bathing area (with the free-standing bath, double shower, his-and-hers sinks and separate loo), admin area (with desk, coffee table and armchairs) and bed area (with the stunning mirrored four-poster bed, crisp white sheets, striking hanging bedside lamps, mirrored bedside tables and another tv).

We got ourselves settled in & changed and then headed on down to the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Bar downstairs. We had a completely fantastic meal, which I will be sharing in another post this week (the chateaubriand we had deserves its own post, trust me!) and then headed back up to the room.

Normal people have a lovely dinner and a bottle of red wine and then head straight to bed, but having not had enough time before dinner to make use of the gorgeous freestanding bath, I just had to indulge – so I ran a bath while M watched some of the Masters. Laying there amongst the bubbles, book in hand, feeling a little bit tipsy from the wine and full of incredible food, I can’t tell you how lucky I felt – it was just such a treat!

Finally going to sleep, the bed was so comfy; super-king mattress, fresh soft white sheets, and fluffy pillows. We both slept like babies and I even woke up to a fresh cup of tea made by M from the room’s tea-tray (tea in bed is just so lovely, and even though M makes it for me most mornings at home, it always feels so special!)

After a quick shower we headed down to breakfast, back down in the main restaurant from the night before. Breakfast was a self-serve hot and cold buffet, and they certainly did it well – the set up is like a delicatessen, with prints of soup tins on the walls and white tiles creating a really clean look.

They had yogurts, fruits and cereals, as well as pastries and breads, and then the full english breakfast options including sausage, bacon, tomato, mushrooms, fried or scrambled eggs, baked beans, black pudding and hash browns – YUM!

We indulged in a little bit of everything, topped off with more tea for me, and a pot of fresh coffee for him – just what we needed to get our day started right!

Once we had eaten, we headed back to the room to grab our spa things and then headed down to “theclub”, entry to which is included in the price of the room. I am going to share a full post on this too, as I was really impressed with the set up and we came out feeling like new people after sitting in the open air hot tub and indulging in treatments in the spa! (Watch this space for all the details!)

After we had packed up our things and checked out, we went for a quick walk around the grounds – as I said, the surroundings are just so beautiful, it just had to be done! The grounds themselves have a really gorgeous pond with a fountain, as well as a large garden and even their own turkeys!

We had a fantastic stay at Cadbury House; we were made to feel welcome at every opportunity, our room was nothing short of stunning and we both slept so well we left feeling like new people. An absolutely fantastic start to our weekend away and a real treat.
