If You Go Down To The Woods Today…

I cannot put into words how excited I am this morning! Tonight, after 25 years in the making, “Duncton Wood” has it’s official opening night! (we have had two nights of previews, but tonight we officially open!)

Tonight is press night – a night where the press and industry come and see their first glimpse of this gorgeous show and we make our official world premiere!

This show really is very very special and I am having such a special time being in it – the story is gorgeous, the characters are incredible and the score is outstanding – seriously – have a listen to Ruthie Henshall singing one of the songs from the show on the Elaine Paige BBC Radio 2 show last weekend here. (skip to 1.38.30)

Despite it’s gorgeous woodland setting, this show is dark – really dark. We have murder, sex, lust, the slaughter of innocent children and more – it’s basically Game of Thrones but set in a wood!

Until the reviews come out, I can’t release any photos of the show or anyone in it, but I promise there will be some out next week – those I saw post show last night over a cheeky lime and soda (not drinking until after the show tonight) look incredible and I can’t wait to share them with you all!

In the meantime, here is our trailer, which will give you an idea of the show….

Now, I need to get myself sorted out, iron my dress, work out what I’m doing with my hair tonight, and get to the theatre for a few notes and to get into hair, makeup and costume – which, for this show, is incredibly striking – the boys completely shirtless (yay to gorgeous performers!) and the girls with gorgeous drapes of muslin to cover a little bit of the old midriff!!

Photos to follow! Cross your fingers for a good night – official world premiere, here we come! 🙂

Thank you!! The show went really well – and my calm post-show evenings were fuelled by your gorgeous candles! 🙂
